Text of the Zig Zag Leaflet
No ifs... No buts...
KEEP THE ZIG-ZAGS CLEAR!
IT'S THE LAW!
STOPPING ON THE ZIG-ZAGS IS
DANGEROUS AND SELFISH
IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL
Parked cars are a major factor in accidents outside schools.
Stopping on the yellow zig-zag lines puts children at risk.
Do YOU stop on the zig-zags? What's your excuse?
- You only stop for a few moments ...
- Only when it's raining ...
- You were in a hurry ...
- Accidents don't happen at your school ...
The zig-zags are there for a purpose:
To provide a clear
area in which
children can cross
MORE safely.
- Because of their size, children cannot see if the road is clear from behind parked cars.
- Drivers cannot see small children hidden by parked cars.
- When children go to and from school, there is usually a lot of traffic.
Put all these problems together and you have the perfect setting for an accident to happen.
So, remember ...
NO IF'S... NO BUTS... NO EXCUSES...
KEEP THE ZIG-ZAGS CLEAR!
IF YOU STOP ON THE ZIG-ZAGS
YOU WILL BE FINED
KEEP CHILDREN SAFE
- Don't let very young children out on their own.
- Make sure they know that roads are dangerous.
- When taking children to school, teach them to always STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK before they cross the road.
- Every time you cross, do it properly - always set the right example.
AND PLEASE DON'T FORGET -
IF YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR...
KEEP THE ZIG-ZAGS CLEAR
