Stoneydown Park Primary School

At Stoneydown we aim to:

  1. Develop a whole school approach to teaching and learning that provides children with a broad, balanced, stimulating and challenging curriculum.
  2. Create opportunities for children of all abilities to experience personal achievement, to produce high quality work across the curriculum and to receive rewards for their successes.
  3. Enable children to gain an understanding of their responsibilities for behaving positively and respectfully towards others in the school and the wider community.
  4. Ensure all children and adults follow the schools equal opportunities policy.
  5. Create a safe and enriching environment as a focal point for the local community where everyone in the community feels welcomed and supported.

Therefore all the Staff and Governors at Stoneydown will:

  1. Maintain orderly classrooms, corridors, dinner hall and playgrounds.
  2. Look out for and deal with bullying and bad behaviour.
  3. Listen to what children tell us.
  4. Reward their good work and behaviour.
  5. Provide Literacy and Numeracy lessons and also sessions for Science, ICT, Art, Music, PE, Geography, History, Technology, RE, Citizenship and PSHE.
  6. Take children on school trips linked to their class work or invite specialist workers to come into school.
  7. Provide opportunities for children to take part in extra curricula activities.
  8. Make sure children change their reading books regularly and where appropriate, take work to do at home.

We will also keep you informed about school matters through:

  1. A School Prospectus for the parents of new pupils.
  2. Monthly newsletters.
  3. An annual report from the Governors.
  4. Half termly leaflets telling you what your child will be doing in class.
  5. Occasional letters and notices.
  6. The schools web site - www.stoneydownpark.ik.org
  7. A termly Parents? Evening.
  8. PTA meetings.
  9. Contacting you if there are any concerns relating to your child.

We will also help you to become involved in school life by:

  1. Supporting the work of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
  2. Helping you to become a volunteer worker in the school.
  3. Letting you know how you can help your child with their schoolwork through the half termly leaflets.
  4. Invite you to class assemblies, special assemblies, sports days, fetes, discos and performances.





The Parents



I shall:
  1. Make sure my child comes to school regularly and on time.
  2. Tell the school by phone, by letter or in person if my child is absent from school.
  3. Tell the school if my child has any problems that might affect their work or behaviour.
  4. Support the schools policies on behaviour.
  5. Help my child with their reading and homework.
  6. Sign consent forms for school trips.
  7. Attend parents' evenings to discuss my child?s progress.
  8. Attend, whenever possible, school events to see my child performing or taking part.
  9. Get to know about my childs life at school.
  10. Pay for my childs school dinner in advance.
  11. Produce free meals authorisation when asked to.
  12. Make sure my child is properly dressed, in the Stoneydown school uniform, for cold and wet weather or for hot weather.
  13. Make sure my child has PE kit.

The Child


I shall try to:

  1. Come to school every day by 8.50am.
  2. Bring my book bag and PE kit.
  3. Wear my Stoneydown school uniform.
  4. Always listen to all members of staff at Stoneydown.
  5. Do all my class work and homework as well as I can.
  6. Look after school books and equipment.
  7. Keep the school clean, tidy and safe.
  8. Pass on all letters to my parents.
  9. Be polite and helpful to everyone.
  10. Never bully or hurt anyone.
