5 Jun 2006 - The Giant Poppy Art Project

As you know, the British Legion sells poppies to raise money for families affected by wars over the years.

This year they asked an artist, Helen Marshall, to create a Giant Poppy. Thousands of people sent in their photos and Helen took photos that used the colour red.

Helen came into school last month and children wore something red or brought in a red object. The children had a great time taking loads of photos.

Helen then used a computer programme that selects from the thousands of photos and creates a giant picture.

On Monday June 5th, a group of Stoneydown children attended the press launch of the British Legion's People's Poppy. The giant poppy picture was on display on the floor of Victoria Station and will be moving to other stations around the country.

Here is a close-ups from the giant poppy and you can actually see Tai and Sabrine and how the photos go together.
